Artisans Contractors – General Liability

In case your found legally liable for bodily injury or property damage that is caused by your business operations, an Artisan Contractors GL policy will defend you and the Insurance Company will pay on your behalf.

If you enter into agreements with third parties that specify the types of insurance coverage, limits and special endorsements (additional insured, waiver of subrogation) you will need a Artisan Contractors GL. These endorsements transfer risk from the general contractor to the specialty contractor, creating broad liabilities for the subcontractor that were never contemplated in the forms or the rates being provided by insurance companies.

General contractors and insurers they need to transfer and limit their exposures. Specialty contractors’ difficulty purchasing affordable liability insurance is being driven by their assumption of broadened contractual obligations, compounded by the type of work being performed and the legal environments that have fostered the generation of construction defect claims.

Commercial General Liability

Coverage for your business when negligent acts and/or omissions result in bodily injury and/or property damage on the premises of a third party business, when someone is injured as the result of using the product manufactured or distributed by your business, or when someone is injured in the general operation of a business.

Workers Compensation

Coverage for your employees’ medical expenses and at least some portion of their lost wages if they are injured on the job. Here are more optional benefits that have an impact on the cost and value of the coverage for you and your employees:

  • Legal expenses would be covered if an employee makes an inappropriate claim of work-related illnesses or injuries.
  • Coverage for employees who are injured in states outside those where your business normally operates.
  • Coverage for various types of injuries and illnesses.
  • Coverage for funeral expenses and financial support to dependents.
  • Reimbursement percentages for lost wages.

Commercial Property

You need to protect from unforeseen circumstances, such as natural disasters, fires, criminal theft and other calamities that may damage important commercial properties. It is a way to protect a business' physical goods like buildings, signs, equipment and other potentially valuable goods as well as employees' personal property. Other options include business interruption coverage and machinery coverage, though specific coverage will vary based on policy and the needs of the business.

Errors and Omissions

One mistake can change everything. Professional liability coverage for claims relating to either providing a professional service or failing to provide a professional service. No matter what profession you’re in, an error or omission – even a simple mistake – which causes financial harm to another, can put you at risk. This type of policy can help protect you or your company from bearing the full cost of defense and damages for lawsuits that may occur. This is a separate coverage from your standard general liability or property insurance.

Builder’s Risk

This policy will provide coverage to protect a person's or organization's insurable interest in materials, fixtures and/or equipment being used in the construction or renovation of a building or structure should those items sustain physical loss or damage from a covered cause.
